K týmu SIRIRI se na dva měsíce připojila americká stážistka
Na dva letní měsíce se k týmu SIRIRI připojila stážistka Sahana Lexie Matthews. Pracuje v pražské kanceláři v týmu, který je už teď mezinárodní, protože se skládá z dvou Francouzů, Češky, Slováka a nyní se na dva měsíce rozšířil o Američanku.
Sahana je původem z Los Angeles. V současné době studuje obor politické ekonomie na Kalifornské univerzitě v Berkeley se zaměřením na nerovnost a trestní právo. „Toto zaměření jem si vybrala, protože mě zajímá, jaký má vláda a její politika vliv na chudobu a nerovnost a jaké mohou být rozdílné dopady v jednotlivých zemí.
O SIRIRI jsem se dozvěděla v rámci školního programu, do kterého jsem se přihlásila. Kontaktovala jsem proto SIRIRI s dotazem, zda bych se mohla zapojit jako stážistka. Miluji českou kulturu a chtěla jsem ji lépe poznat na živo. I proto jsem se rozhodla navštívit Prahu. Praha je krásné město, které stojí za to prozkoumat. Takže letní zážitek jako stvořený!
Vybrala jsem si SIRIRI, protože se mi líbí práce, které se věnuje a měla jsem chuť se k takové úžasné věci přidat. O práci v neziskovém sektoru jsem se vždy zajímala, jsem proto ráda, že jsem si vybrala organizaci, v které navíc pracují úžasní a srdeční lidé. Mým úkolem v SIRIRI bylo pomáhat zejména v tom, v čem jsem mohla být se svou angličtinou užitečná. Mou hlavní činností bylo vyhledávání organizací a jiných institucí, kteří se angažují ve Středoafrické republice a vytvoření seznamu kontaktů. Dále jsem pomáhala s přípravou žádostí o granty a úpravu anglické verze webových stránek.“
Stáž Sahaně končí na konci července. Jak uplynulý pobyt a práci hodnotí? „Byl to pro mě zcela nový a vzrušující zážitek. Setkala jsem se s mnoha zajímavými lidmi a mohla jsem dělat prospěšnou práci. Zakusila jsem životní styl, který se od toho mého velmi liší. Zjistila jsem, že žít nějakou dobu na novém místě v jiném kulturním a jazykovém prostředí je velkou výzvou, ale také velmi prospěšnou a cennou zkušeností.
Po mém návratu do USA mě čeká závěrečný ročník studia. Po ukončení školy se právu začnu věnovat profesně. Doufám, že se do Evropy brzy opět vydám ať už v rámci práce či na dovolenou.“

The SIRIRI team has welcomed an American intern
For these last two months of summer, Sahana Matthews has been a part of the SIRIRI team. She works at the Prague office with a team that is already international; made up of two Frenchmen, Czechs, Slovaks, and now an American.
Sahana is from Los Angeles, California. She is currently studying the field of Political Economics at the University of California, Berkeley with a focus on inequality and criminal justice. „I chose this focus because I am interested in how the government and its policies have an impact on poverty and inequality and how these policies vary between countries.
I learned about SIRIRI through a school program. I applied to the program, and the program contacted SIRIRI and asked if they would like to have me as an intern. I chose to come to Prague because I love the Czech culture and wanted to learn more about it. Prague is a beautiful city with so much to see and explore. It has truly made for a great summer experience.
I chose SIRIRI because I admire the work you are doing and wanted to contribute to such a wonderful cause. I have always wanted to work with an NGO, and am very glad I chose a company with such wonderful and welcoming people. My task with SIRIRI has been to help in anything that requires English. My main task was to find organizations and other institutions in the United States who also engage in the Central African Republic and create a contact list. Additionally, I helped to prepare grant applications and edited the English version of the website.“
Sahana will leave the Czech Republic at the end of July. „My stay and work in Prague has been a completely new and exciting experience for me. I have met so many wonderful people and done very rewarding work. I have experienced a life-style that is very different from mine back home, and learned how challenging entering a new environment can be. I cannot thank SIRIRI enough for giving me this opportunity.
Upon my return to the USA, I will complete my final year of studies. After graduation, I will start working professionally. I hope that I will come back to Europe very soon, whether on business or on holiday.“

L’équipe de SIRIRI accueille une stagiaire américaine
Sahana Matthews, stagiaire, a rejoint l’équipe de SIRIRI pendant les deux mois d’été. Elle travaille à Prague dans une équipe déjà internationale réunissant des Français, des Tchèques, des Slovaques et qui accueille maintenant une américaine.
Sahana vient de Los Angeles. Elle étudie actuellement l’économie politique à l’Université de Californie à Berkeley en s’intéressant plus particulièrement aux inégalités et au droit pénal. “J’ai choisi cette orientation parce que je m’intéresse à la façon dont le gouvernement et ses politiques ont un impact sur la pauvreté et l’inégalité et à la différence entre les différents pays.
J’ai connu SIRIRI dans le cadre du programme scolaire auquel je me suis inscrit. J’ai donc contacté SIRIRI pour savoir si je pouvais devenir stagiaire. J’aime la culture tchèque et je voulais mieux la connaître. C’est pourquoi j’ai décidé de venir à Prague. Prague est une ville magnifique où il y a beaucoup à explorer. C’était parfait pour la période estivale!
J’ai choisi SIRIRI parce que j’aime le travail que vous faites et que je voulais contribuer à la cause que vous défendez. J’ai toujours été intéressée de travailler pour une ONG, et je suis très heureuse d’avoir choisi une association avec des gens aussi merveilleux et accueillants. Ma tâche avec SIRIRI a été d’aider dans tout ce qui nécessite l’anglais. Ma mission principale consistait à trouver des organisations et d’autres institutions aux États-Unis qui s’impliquent également en République centrafricaine puis de créer une liste de contacts. De plus, j’ai aidé à préparer les demandes de subventions et ai corrigé la version anglaise du site Web. „
Sahana quittera la République tchèque à la fin du mois de juillet. “Mon séjour et mon travail à Prague ont été pour moi une expérience totalement nouvelle et passionnante: j’ai rencontré tant de personnes formidables et accompli un travail très enrichissant, j’ai vécu un style de vie très différent du mien et j’ai appris le défi que cela représente d’intégrer un nouvel environnement. Je ne remercierai jamais assez SIRIRI de m’avoir donné cette opportunité.
À mon retour aux États-Unis, je terminerai ma dernière année d’études. Après l’obtention du diplôme, je vais commencer à travailler. J’espère que je reviendrai très bientôt en Europe, que ce soit pour affaires ou en vacances. „
