Little help after the flood in Bozoum
Climate change is manifesting itself not only here in Europe, but also in Africa. In October 2024, the city of Bozoum in the northwest of the Central African Republic experienced a very heavy rainy season. The Koyalé River overflowed the banks of a natural lake in the middle of the city. The concrete bridge and the road were impassable, but no damage was done after the water receded.
But the same cannot be said about the houses of poor people in a neighborhood that was literally flooded by high water. The mud brick houses fell apart. For the poorest, this means that they have lost the roof over their heads. They have no funds at all for new housing.
For this reason, we have decided through our partners to help the two most needy : the blind man SOUNGNA and the old man NOUWELE. We know both of them personally and in case of sudden health problems, we help them as part of the first aid fund.
The new houses will be built in a zone where they will not be affected by any further flooding. Local materials will be used for the construction.
The project was supported in 2024 by SIRIRI funds in the amount of EUR 3000.
