Construction of two classrooms for a school in Paté

The village of Paté is located near to the town of Baoro. Our partners run a school there, which is attended by children from the village and the surrounding area. The school building is adjacent to the church and there are 2 small classrooms. There are so many children that unfortunately the classes are not enough for them. They are squeezed into desks and some classes are learning outdoors in the open air. In case of bad weather, they have no premises, they even take refuge in church. We know the school well, we visited it lastly in 2023 as part of the visits to the classes of the program “Learning through Play in CAR”.

For this reason, in 2024, our partners asked us if we could support the construction of 2 new classrooms and an office for teachers and principal. In total, the new space will have an additional 18 x 6.5 m. The budget of the brick building is 17,200 Euros and includes all construction costs, i.e. cement, wood, roof material, brick material, transport of materials and craftsmanship.

The land for the construction of the new classrooms was provided by the municipality and is located across a very low-traffic road just opposite the existing school. The project was supported by SIRIRI in 2024 with 4000 Euros.
